Hello , 
I thought to put my 5c worth in the hum discussion. 
Don't forget the power supply rectifier if made out of 4 diodes. I had to put .01 capacitors parallel to each diode to get rid of a hum/noice in a receiver. 
By the way a paint can opener tool makes an excellent tube remover in the cramped space of a command set receiver with a cover . The other side could be used to open a 807 bottle.
