Gonset, RME, and several other companies made AC operated tuneable converters that brought the 20, 15, 10, 6, and 2-meter bands down to, usually, 7.0 MHz. RME made the HF-10-20 which was for 20, 15, and 10-meters; Gonset made a converter, that did not have a model number, for 15, 10, and 6-meters; and RME made the VHF-152 and VHF 152A converters for 10, 6, and 2-meters. I have examples of all 3-manufacturers tuneable converters as well as a couple of the Gonset mobile converters and an RME mobile converter.

These converters were introduced shortly after World War II to be used with the various surplus receivers that usually did not go above between 18 MHz and 20 MHz and were more stable on the 40-meter band than on the higher frequencies. Glen, K9STH

Back around 1957, I used a Morrow 5BR-1 converter with the 1.5 - 3.0 "command" receiver as my main receiver; very sensitive and very stable. I still have several Morrow and Gonset converters now, though I am not currently using any of them. It's awfully hard to retrograde from my Icom IC-7410!
