In reference to racks for the postwar ARC Type 12 equipment, I have a some of those sets as well as the "racks" and the control box, and they do not use racks in the same sense as the 274-N, ARC-5 and other Command Set series.
The "rack" is in reality just a shockmount that clamps to the bottom. The Type 12's have no connectors on the back - all are on the front. So it's just a shockmount for each piece and the wiring harness.
The postwar gray wrinkle finish racks probably are for ARN-30. The racks are almost identical to the Command set racks, since the equipment does have the same type connectors on the back, although they are two-set racks, not three, and one side has two connectors to match up with the VOR converter. I bought one of the racks for $20 on ebay last year and then was surprised when the local constabulary presented me with two ARN-30 receivers with Dynaverters and one ARN-30 converter unit they were tossing out. Although the converter unit is pretty much useless for anything else, it does have the same upper case and base plate as a receiver, so it can be a useful source of spare parts. They were also tossing out an ARC-114 and two ARN-89's which I got as well. When asked about the ARN-30 racks they responded, "Racks? Who would want those? If we had them they went in the trash." This resulted in a dumpster diving expedition which produced no racks but did discover several perfectly usable Nomex flight suits.
Also, for anyone who wants a 40M transmitter, Fair Radio is selling the oscillator coil for the 7MHZ transmitters and I suppose it might be possible to transplant one into the 5.3-7MHz transmitters, which I plan to do.
Happy New Year, Y'all!
