Well mine's made by Federal, Ken, but the best description of the color
would be "OD". I'm not sure that means a lot as they could have painted
'em a different color than Mackay did, and I know it was also common for
the marine manufacturers to do custom paint colors to meet customer
requests or for a full ships ratio panel. Anyhow, mine's khaki or OD or
$@%& green, I'm sure you know the shade I'm talking about ;-) This
image is not of great quality but it's the only one I found online:

More interestingly to me at least, is the lettering on the Mackay raised
also? Or how is it applied? On the Federal all panel markings
including the logo and decorative stuff is raised above the level of the
panel (which is to say, the panel was photochemically etched to a lower
level, allowing the raised lettering to stand above. It's really neat,
just the opposite of what we're familiar with for engraved panels, and
certainly would be easy to refinish (wonder if that's why they did
it?). Mine has several cool ink stampings and other cool stuff that I
wouldn't want to disturb, plus the panel is in good shape, but of course
I never would come across a panel made this way that was trashed ;-)
Happy listening "down there".
