Hi, just moved back to a base unit and Windows 7. Just wondering with all the talk about Command transmitters drifting if anyone has used the BC 457-a on 5 Mhz band??

Nice to see the Command set handbook as a PDF file. I had some old CQ mags about 1957 before some people helped me move house and thought trashing the bound volumes would be just clutter up the new place!! These CQ mags had a mod to the rx DC to DC rotary converter for use on 12 volts, involved one of the carbon brushes position to be moved 45 degrees. Just never seen any reference to this elsewhere ??

I don't know which ARC-5 rx which I have but theres a set of spare carbon brushes inside small tubing which seperates into 2 parts. Wonder if anyone ever uses the DC rotary converter on the rx, I just have the odd one or two and one is on maybe 14 volts, this doesn't have the spare set of brushes.

I did change the plug in coils and change the IF cans on on ARC-5 rx from a BC 453, got told it wouldn't work, but it did. I have a NOS as they say BC 453 has that aroma when you take the lid from the bottom away, other odd thing with the ARC-5 radios, one has part plastic covered wiring part cotton covered in the same set. Another has all plastic covered wiring. The radios have been sitting around for some years, so its been good to see the updating info on Youtube..
