"RS made a big mistake by trying to become a "phone store" at the expense of a more diversified product line."

Yes, I recall going into one of their stores years ago to purchase a small 39 cent pack of resistors. When I paid, they asked me if I wanted to buy a cellphone for a penny. I started to ask them if had a resistor of the value I needed inside it.

But a while back I was working on a Realistic DX-150A and needed a new power supply pass transistor. After checking on the Internet on supplies at the local stores, I went to a Radio Shack and bought a TO-220 case 2N3055. It was way overkill for the application and I had to open up the holes in the circuit board a bit, but I did not have to wait for a mail delivery - or dig through my stuff looking for all the TO-220 2N3055's I must have somewhere.
