[ARC5] R-10 in the receivers.

Hi,

I have not noticed if somebody pointed out that the ARRL Handbooks (and
probably many others) show a similar approach for manual control of RF,
IF, and even audio stages. Recently on another list (I don't think it
was here) another ham said he uses two of those controls - both external
to the receiver and mounted in a homebrew control box. One is for when
his station in in the "receive" mode and the other is for when it is in
the transmit mode. Like me, he uses his receiver - reduced and not
"muted" - to monitor his sending instead of using a sidetone in the
keyer. That is also the approach used in those manuals and the approach
I used in my old Hammarlund HQ-145. So no hacking is needed to
accomplish this with these good ole receivers.
