As I said earlier, that receiver, the R-24, was also made with the same sorts 
of added loop connectors, switch, and power output adapter as the later 
BC-453 (maybe) and R-23 models.

In my Navy manual, the R-24 is grouped with the R-23 in the "Navigation 
Receiver" section.

I have never seen a BC-946B with those added "bits" though, but that 
doesn't mean they were never added.

As I understand it, the ARR-1 was never used by the Army: only the Navy 
carrier groups used it....with good reason.

The ARR-1 and subsequent ARR-2 were absolutely ingenious devices, 
IMHO. I understand that method of bringing carrier planes back to their 
carrier was used up into the 1960s.

As far as I know, no other Navy had anything like it.
