I hate to do it but I have to disagree. I finally found some information
on the 10Y in the obsolete tube section of RCA TT-4. And compared it to the
801 in TT-3 (TT-4 lists 801A but not 801). Not only are the max plate
voltages and plate dissipation higher for the 801 versus the 10Y (600 versus 450
and 20 versus 15), but the interelectrode capacitance is different (6, 4.5,
1.5 versus 7, 4, 3). TT-3 doesn't list the 10 and I still haven't found
anything listing 10 Special. 10 is shown in RCA RC-11 and others but all it
shows are Class A audio service specs, which are lower than those for the
10Y. The 10's Class C CW ratings if given would probably also be lower than
the 10Y.
