For what it's worth, I have an early Western Electric-built
receiver, 3-6 mc. It is painted in black wrinkle and has seen a bit of
use as there are a couple of chips in the paint (not bad ones) The
number plate on the top of the receiver reads RADIO RECEIVER BC-354-B
serial No. 504 (stamped) ORDER NO. 293-PHILA-42

On the back is stamped in yellow ink: CONTRACT NO.
BC-454-B
3-6 MC
                                                              W-2124-SC-15

                                                                SER NO. 504

While I cannot prove it, I am certain everything is original on
this unit. The IF transformer cans are square-edged, not rounded like
the later WECO production. The felt under the tube hatch is very dark
green. The tube numbers (VT-131, VT-132, VT-131, VT-134, VT-133, VT-131
are engraved in the edge of the cover. There are four holes in the
variable capacitor cover where on earlier models there was a patent
plate. On the right rear right side as you look at the unit is a
red-stamped square with SC
       157
          A inside it.
