[ARC5] Very Versatile Equipment

The guy who told me it was done said that it was used for comms with the tower with the plane close in to the field.  Perhaps, with their normal radio comms out, there was some message perhaps re injured on board that they needed to pass before landing.

Would be interesting to see the range of a BC-221 coupled to a full sized dipole antenna.  Of course you would want to have some sort of tuned  coupling network to minimize radiating harmonics, which were by design, fairly strong relative to the fundamental frequency n the output.

It would be possible. The BC-221 puts out a decent signal. BTW, the BC-221 looks roughly like a British WS-18 at a quick glance from
