Equipment nomenclature (either a new SCR, BC, etc. number or a revision or
alternate contractor letter) was set (assigned) during the order writing
process. Once set, the nomenclature was not (usually??) re-used (recycled) if
the order was cancelled at any stage past the assignment point. There are
dozens if not hundreds of numeric and letter examples (not counting letter
"I" or "O"). That is probably what happened. However, there is one (that
I've noticed) example where it just appears as though a lot of letters were
just skipped. I'm referring to the BC-191-N, where they apparently skipped
GHJKLM for no known reason. So it could be either reason but I would lean
toward the former one.
