Tripling in the final -- if you feel so brave -- with a BC-457 will get you to 20 meters. Yes, it'll work. But you need to be very careful when tuning up. Best to modify the transmitter (OH, the HORROR! SCREAMS!!!) by adding a tripler stage between the oscillator and PA.
Back in the day, that's how we learned....

Using a BC-457, and then doubling in
the final amplifier, would give a 30-meter transmitter.
Remember, a lot of the old "Novice Class" transmitters
doubled in the final to get to 10-meters and that worked
pretty well.
