No. All I have ever seen have a large round connector smack in the middle
of where the dial would go.
However, that connector can be easily removed, and serves no purpose
when the receiver is used stand-alone.
Removing that connector leaves a large hole, exactly centered over the boss
that connects to the dial in the older receivers.
Furthermore, the tuning capacitors for both the Type 12 MF (and BC) band
receivers are identical with those in their older counterparts, the BC-453 or
R-24 receivers, and swapping them is no big deal. Even the tuning shaft is in
the identical place.
Dealing with the fact that the Type 12s had no BFO is a different matter and
a bit more difficult to add....but not much.
