It would seem a legitimate concern that arcing at the contacts of K52 would cause deterioration.  These radios weren't designed with CW as the primary mode.  And you're making and breaking high voltage at high current.


A simple R-C series network across the contacts would help extend their life.  And reduce key clicks!

How did they come on frequency when they used these things in World War 2?
I suspect they used a BC 221 or similar prior to the mission and locked the
frequency in. So they really didn't have the spotting problem during a
mission?
