I recently purchased an MT-1175/ARN-30A on ebay; it's in very good shape and unmodified. On the left side is a rack intended for the receiver section of the ARN-30, similar to the Type 12 ARC VHF sets. The right side is designed to mount the VOR translation unit, and is of similar size to the left side but has two connectors on the rear; the two connectors on the right are the same as those used on WWII vintage Command Sets but are clocked differently.

I found that an ARC-5/R-28 slid very easily into the left rack, the connector mating up very nicely. An R-11A also slid into that rack nicely, although it has no connector on the rear.

Then I tried a BC-453 and a BC-455. They would not fit - the screws along the bottom sides stick out just enough to prevent them from sliding in. This was a surprise; I had no idea they would have changed the dimensions of the receivers or of the racks. Is this the case or is there something else going on?

By the way, I also have a rack for the Type 12 sets. It's not at all like the WWII sets or the ARN-30. It just clamps the radios on the bottom and has no connectors.
