OK, folks...

Ted, W3PWW, loaned me a Navy R-27 to try and do the IF transformer mod.  
The coil set in this receiver is of the same construction as were those 
in the 80 meter versions.  That is, the coils were separate and could be 
moved.  I did the mod, today, and preliminary tests indicate a reduction 
in bandwidth of about 40%.  This is from a book value of 19 kHz down to 
a measured 12 kHz.  This ain't great, bandwidth-wise, but a whole lot 
better than stock.  I do note that the response symmetry appears to if 
off a bit so, an alignment is indicated.  I'll continue to march.
