I tend to agree with you that alignment was best done on some sort of test-jig 
before the receivers were completely assembled.

However, one added factor to consider is that the adjustment "ranges" were 
very narrow. Even at their extremes, alignment would never have been so far 
off as to make the receivers completely unusable, although they most 
certainly would not have been at their peak either.

I wish we knew more about A.R.C.'s production methods.
