The question of which WW2 radios were transceivers came up on another
thread, so I took a look at the New Zealand made ZC1 radio to see whether
it was a transceiver or not (although I live in NZ, I've never had any
experience with the ZC1).

While googling, I found the following article:

http://www.worldphaco.com/uploads/ZC1_MK2_POWER_SUPPLIES.pdf

The article is primarily a report on the author's successful use of solid
state devices to construct a unit that plugs into the ZC1 vibrator socket
and fulfills the function of the vibrator.

Also demonstrated are the construction of a 12:50 ohm toroid for feeding
the low impedance of the ZC1 into a conventional 50 ohm antenna, and the
construction of an auto-transformer to step down the ZC1 audio output to 8,
16, or 32 ohms.

The article is complete with excellent photos and detailed analysis and is
highly recommended. Everyone will learn something from it.
