It took me nearly a year and constant dunning to get paid for my
last article ($175.00). Wayne had turned over 73 to some fly by night
character who ran the magazine into debt and left. Joyce Sautelle
finally sent me a check from "Butterfly video Productions" another of
Waynes enterprises. 73 was a fine magazine as long as Wayne was
hands-on editor. I met Wayne at Dayton back in 95 and worked him on 20
and 10 many times. He will be missed.

I toured the USS Drum in Mobile bay. At 6ft and 190 lbs(then) there
was no place on the boat that I could stand or move around with out
bumping into something. And they had moved a lot of equipment out. Hats
off to the men like Wayne who served in WWII.

In addition to Amateur Radio Wayne should be remembered for his
publihing empire's contribution to the personal computer revolution.

Quoting Glen Zook :
Wayne Green paid me $30.00 for the first article that I ever wrote.
This was in 1961 and the article took up all of 2/3rds of a page in the
old small sized magazine. That was a small fortune for about
30-minutes work to a high school junior! The most that he paid me was
$1800 for a single article in 1968. I bought my wife a new Ford Falcon
station wagon with the money. Glen, K9STH

Gents:

Wayne paid me $10 for my first Ham radio article that he published in
73 mag (Sept, 1967.) His payment caused me to open my first savings
account. I also looked forward to reading his editorials in 73 each month.
