Wayne Green paid me $30.00 for the first article that I ever wrote.  This was in 1961 and the article took up all of 2/3rds of a page in the old small sized magazine.  That was a small fortune for about 30-minutes work to a high school junior!  The most that he paid me was $1800 for a single article in 1968.  I bought my wife a new Ford Falcon station wagon with the money.

Gents:

Wayne paid me $10 for my first Ham radio article that he published in
73 mag (Sept, 1967.)  His payment caused me to open my first savings
account.  I also looked forward to reading his editorials in 73 each month.
