IMHO, YMMV etc.:
There isn't any real value in attempting to saw,
beat and drill some nebulous "improvement" into a BC-348.
The hamfest tables once were filled with the silent, dead husks
resulting from this everlasting, mad alchemy.
As with the medieval alchemist's attempt
to turn iron into gold, the results never satisfy.
All one gets from this flash-n-smokey hockus-pockus
is rusty iron.
Most of those sad remains now molder in the landfill.
If I want "modern performance," I plug-in a soulless,
plastic "computer-with-antenna" that can hear
a flea belch in Mongolia. It's so easy, it's stone boring.
The only effort needed from me to have such "performance"
is to pull-out a credit card, open a cardboard carton
and plug it in. Such accomplishment!
Hurry for SuperHam... Faster than a speeding laxative.
More powerful than denture glue.....
I want something that looks, smells and sounds
like a real radio. One that has a drop or two of
my own sweat in it- a sigil of its resurrection.
I want to cruise the ether with sails I set myself,
not be carried-along in the sterile arms of
some laughably expensive android.
