In addition, the frequency response of human hearing is most definitely NOT
"flat", exhibiting very significant peaks in response, in addition to tremendous
gaps.
This factor enables the ear to "ignore" (out of necessity, not choice) some
frequencies of sounds that would be severely interfering, thus enhancing
those it can hear well.
In my own case, I used to be seriously bothered by the 15750 KHz horizontal
oscillator in a common TV set, but haven't heard that for years. I am 71 now.
