The pitted look comes from the way the Tarn-X works:
Tarn-X complexes with the Silver Oxide or Sulphide, removing it, but any
area that is not contaminated is left untouched.
Silver is soft, so the creme or other polishes actually burnish the
surface as they polish.
Burnishing the ARC-5 contacts is pretty hard.
As I said, be sure you really need to clean the contacts.
