Where possible I solder the variable cap wipers to the frame at their
mounting rivets or where they loop over the frame.
This is one of the few places Ive found DeOxit to be actually useful, right
at the wiper-rotor junction.
Many radio manufacturers started soldering those spots in production, during
service, and via bulletins.
