Not so strange. Even Google has instituted a built-in function to track your
web visits called "Google Analytics" They sell the damned thing to ISPs too.
Having your browsers set up to accept cookies is a VBT (Very Bad Thing).
Turn the damned things off, and clean them ALL out.
There are also a bunch of browser hijackers out there...including Google...
One of the worst is BeesQ.net. If you end up with that cursed POS, you will
find a 13 page document on the web on how to ultimately get rid of it...and
your antivirus won't even know a hijacker is there.
The insidious piece of garbage.
My wife picked it up. It took 4 additional pieces of software, including
HitManPro, MalwareBytes, and two others, and about 6 hours fo finally
stomp the little demon into pieces of electrons, and that was MOST
satisifying.
God, how I loathe and despise hackers. :-(
