Consider getting one and hooking it to a variac.  Use it to set the HV to
550V.

Build the voltage divider ala Dave Stinson (3 resistors) inside the
enclosure and rewire the octal plug.

That would be a nice self contained PS with reversable mods

I have 3 of those buggers on the shelf…. I might try that myself!
