I have an "ARC-5"  "selectivity improvement" 
that works splendidly for me:

I use a plastic radio where "selectivity." is important.

I use my "ARC-5" sets for local AM nets / rag chews 
and casual SWLing.

End of "selectivity" problem.  ;-)
