Much longer than that.  R-23*/ARC-5 units were still flying on some older
USN aircraft at NAS Corpus Christi in 1972.

I used a BC-453-A very frequently in the 1960s to copy maritime Morse on
on the old 405 to 535 kHz MF maritime band.  This was a great set for
that, especially at night.  The traffic was much more interesting than
ham band chatter, and better practice as well!  And decent local weather
was broadcast in AM on the NDB at the nearby Air Force Base.  I never
used this receiver for ham purposes.
