[ARC5] B-36J Radio Operator Position

I was sent to "Basic" at Lackland AFB right next to Kelly AFB where B-36's
and sometimes the two XC-99's were based and heard them outside the fence
taking off many a time. Also many more times when the propellor beat at
high altitude was a very distinct sound almost like recordings of Zeppelin
engines running. A low pitched unique sound. The only aircraft I ever
heard and mistook at times for a high flying B-36 was the C-124. But the
reverberation that used to happen an inside room of a house was not as
strong as the B-36 reverb which sometimes seemed to rattle things in the
house!
Very unique sound indeed. The only time I heard the jet engines was when
they were taking off at Kelly, but not during a flyover at high altitudes.

How many people here have actually heard a B-36 close up?
I have.
