I applied, a number of times, pure Acetone via a long "Q" tip, hoping that 
would take off the enamel. I soon saw shiny copper, so it must have done 
something good.

Thanks for that too. I didn't count the wires, but I know there were at least 6. 
It was probably 7. As far as I can tell, I got them all. In any case, the receiver 
now works. Sensitivity is less than 1 microvolt on AM. So, hopefully I didn't 
miss more than one.

I guess I better take notes and keep them in a notebook from now on.
