A trick I have heard of working is this:
Put an *uncoated* aspirin tablet under the end of the litz wire and apply solder and the solder pencil. The aspirin takes off the enamel and acts as flux. I suggest a good cleaning with water and/or flux remover or the like when done.
My notes file on Litz wire tells that it is made with strand insulation that melts in a solder pot (or with a pencil applied). I have not tried that.
Note: in a seven strand litz wire, having one strand open reduces the Q of the coil by a measurable amount. Two open is worse, and three open removes the benefit of the litz wire. (It may well be that the Radiotron Designers Handbook has the details.)
