[ARC5] Re-reading Gordon White article...

If the radio works at the bottom of the band and goes deaf midband
somewhere, I's suspect the LO has quit.

Bring a portable radio near the set and tune it to the LO frequency, then
tune up until it quits.

I'd bet the LO has quit.
