They needed the notice because the early ferrying procedure was
to issue the ferry pilot a small radio (there were many types)
which they would "haywire" into the aircraft.   When debarking from
the aircraft at the destination, the ferry pilot removed the radio
and took it with her to either the next ferrying mission or on
the train back to her assigned base.
Collecting these radios is a special interest of mine.
Many came with carrying handles.
I have one with a make-shift handle installed and one
set of "Rangers" shoe-horned into a small luggage case.
Also have a sweet Lear RX/TX set built into a wooden
carrying case with handle which is definately WASP issued.
Lots of variety.
