Not a bad price when you consider the completeness, condition, and what
some of the tubes alone sell for. And a number of items are virtually
impossible to find, like the remote frequency chart and the 100-0 reverse
tuning dial for mounting the tuning head on the opposite side of the
receiver. You couldn't buy all those bits separately today for that price.
I've got a similar 'matching numbers' set that was a gift from a friend
years ago. No packing boxes but excellent/new condition. Doesn't appear to
have ever been used, connectors have never been soldered to. Was missing
one connector, the splines, and the remote switches when I got it. Still
need the remote coil switch shown in the pictures and the splines which
differ between the tuning and coils.
Interesting thing on my set is the back of each mounting plate has the
words TEST TYPE stamped on it in SC red. Guessing it was probably withheld
for QC testing or such.
Also of interest are the coil serial numbers. Seems like a basic set was
produced for the gear with matching SNs and others were added later when
the sets were boxed for shipping. That explains the mis-matches with mine.
And if you're reading this Pat, I haven't forgotten your set! Life gets
ahead of us at times, but hoping to get back to it soon.
Hopefully someone will score this one and keep it all together, maybe set
it up and use it. 12 volts, easy to power up.
