For the receivers, the top and bottom cover screws are in three different sizes and types: 
some are black, some are nickle, and some are cad-plated.

As I said, I use flat-black model airplane paint.

Yes. I was aware of the last. As far as I am concerned, the SS does just fine for both Ni and 
Cd.

Besides, it appears that SS is quite a bit stronger than brass.

>From what I have so far found, none of those used in the receivers had integral lock-washers 
or were SEMS. Those in which the lock washers were difficult to remove had simply been 
either tightened so tightly that they were a bit "mashed" or were embedded in the paint.
