And where I grew up in the northeast US we used gas on a rag to wipe down our skin when exposed to poison ivy.Out in the woods doing road maintenance or stringing up barbed wire you can't help but get into that (explative deleted)(explatideleted).. Probably works for poison oak here on the west coast.
Of coarse we washed with soap and water as soon as we got home.

You really have to go some to get gasoline to combust. Its like many
hings....use a little common sense and let it work for you and not against.
I come from a long line of folks that have used various blends of gasoline
ver a century or so to degrease automotive and other items without lighting
hemselves or anything else up.

I've use gasoline many times. I found it especially effective on foam
 which has
disintegrated and turned into sticky goo. I do it outside and use only
 just
enough as it's nasty stuff if it catches fire. When I'm thinking I wear
 my
 nomex jacket.
