CAE, in Dorval outside Montreal, did remarkable work. As a kid, in the
late 1950s, I bought a pair of AN/APN-2 (Rebecca-Eureka)
Receiver-Transmitter units that had been remanufactured by CAE. I still
have one.
Each was packed as new and included Final Test documents. From what I can
tell, the only change was a replacement of the original Tx tuning
mechanism, which had 5 discrete frequencies, with a continuously variable
micrometer drive.
BTW, if anyone has an APN-2, unmodified, please emil me off-list.
Best,
-John
