Here's a comparison list of radio sets likely to be found on B-29 aircraft
in 1945:
System Soviet TU-4 USAAF B-29
MF/HF Liaison Transmitter 1RSB-70 T-47A/ART-13
MF/HF Liaison Receiver US-9 BC-348-R or -Q
MF/HF Command Set USAAF SCR-274-N SCR-274-N (BC-453-B)
VHF Command Set 12RSU-10 AN/ARC-3
Interphone Set SPU-14 AN/AIC-2 (AM-26/AIC)
Automatic Direction Finder ARK-5 AN/ARN-7, plus AN/ARR-1
VHF homing adapter
VHF Localizer Receiver KP-RUSP-45 RC-103-A, plus AN/ARN-5
UHF glide slope system
Marker Beacon Receiver MRP-45 RC-193
Radio Altimeter RV-2 AN/APN-1
Emergency 500 kHz Transmitter AVRA-45 SCR-578-* or AN/CRT-3
The equipment supposedly copied by the Soviets from impounded B-29s seem to
be earlier generation gear for the most part, compared to what was actually
flying in US service. If TU-4 gear was copied from impounded B-29s, it should
have been of more up-to-date vintage.
Disagreement and correction are welcome, as always.
