     Thank you very much John.  I have come up with a 
puzzle.  I knew that there were a great many variations of 
the BC-221 but mine is not covered in the most comprehensive 
handbook I've been able to find on the web, TM 11-300 from 
the Glowbugs site. This covers the variations up to AL but I 
have an AN I guess a very late version.  There may be little 
difference between this and some of the others.  I do have 
the schematic and parts list from the calibration book but 
it would be interesting to learn something more about it.
     Mine is in a wooden box. Its painted flat black on the 
outside but I think was originally OD since the bottom and 
some of the interior is that color.  I don't have the canvas 
case but the wood case has snaps for it. I do have the web 
type carrying belt. I've had it running several hours and 
its still going so I think I am lucky with the filter caps.
     Also, mine does not have a spare standard crystal or 
clip for it but does have a set of spare tubes inside. Also, 
it has only one L wrench.  Not exactly mint but in good 
working condition.  I recently had to clean out a storage 
area and there it was. I had nearly forgotten I had it.
