Yes. The Brits had what we'd call a layered "Integrated Air Defense"
system which enables them to assign very limited resources effectively.
Otherwise the Battle of Britain would have gone the other way.

The effectiveness of the Brit system could be easily judged from bomb
damage and crashed Nazi planes. There were no such meaningful attacks on
the US continent.
