I've done the same over the years. Considering you can often pick up some
of the QST/CQ 'project' radios of the 50s/60s at hamfests for $5-$10 or
less, it's a great source. As well, you get numerous other good parts like
top and bottom covers, coils, dials, etc. Strip a few down and you're set
for life with spare screws.
