[ARC5] Tuning box

Interesting Mike but I don't think the yellow markings on the rx and
identical markings on the tuning box refer simply to a resistor.

As the ARC5 series is R-23 to R-28 my guess is its R for receiver, a
modded set, that is now given the R-31 number.

As the tuning box also says "6V AC" then it could be a system designed
for 6V ac rather than a dc supply.

cheers, Ben.

would be a load or bridging resistor added to the audio output to
correct volume levels for the interphone system, Ben. R-31 is
unassigned in my version of the SCR-274N manual, so it's a possibility.
I have a Navy Aircraft Radio Maintenance Note for the ARC-5 that adds
a similar resistor, but of course it doesn't cover a piece of (ugh)
Army trash. :-) The note is at
http://aafradio.org/docs/Console_type_controls.pdf for those
interested.73,Mike
