I used the RAK/RAL as an example of the pinnacle of regen design.
OTOH I also have a National SW-58 here which goes back to around 1932 and I
guarantee it will run circles around the original S-38 that is kept on a
shelf strictly for display as it is like new.
As mentioned the letter models were inferior.
