[ARC5] Turbine Oil

I was stationed on a nuclear submarine.
The missile technicians smuggles some silicone oil onboard.
They used it to shine the stainless steel on the missile tubes.
When the nukes and the doc found out about it they went ballistic.
It appears that the vaporized silicone oil causes glazing problems
with the commutators on the motor generators.
This required additional mg set down time and maintenance.
Something about the silicon being an atmosphere contaminate caused
the docs response.

This may be a problem in a closed environment only.

Wavetek used a greasy substance on some of their socketed ics.
This was probably to reduce noise and probably worked, short term, very well.
Long term, it dissolved the leads from now obsolete ics.

Just some problems I have encountered.
