Well it may have been for 'recycling' but both the Lakeshore and Central
Electronics VFO were produced for the 10B-20A rigs. There were no, at
least to my knowledge, commercially available VFOs with 5Mhz output to
work with them.
The BC-458(etal) was a natural for this application. A little dress up
with panel, cabinet, dial, made it a really nice piece of equipment.
