It just so happens, I am that friend Mike mentions. I did have a broach made a few months ago but I still need to grind the teeth into it. I first had it made simply as a tapered, hardened spline shaft that I could force through a piece of annealed brass to form the mating splines. That worked but left just a wee bit to be desired. Actually it was very close but I wanted the fit to be better. That's why I need to go back and grind the teeth and make it a real broach.
As for start of production, soon. I hope to have some done within the next three months. I have been adding a digital readout to my lathe to help with the process and that has taken a little time too. I am in hopes of being able to make all the necessary parts for the end of a spline cable actually and eventually offer custom cut spline cable assemblies. Since the female spline end is the most difficult, I thought I better start with that first. As someone else said, the rest is just lathe work.

I've also been working on replicas of the hard to find ARC-5 plug, the 9377 or 9589. I have made a few so far and they worked but like the splines they need a little tweak. I hope to be able to offer some of those in the next three months too.

Like Mike said, time to do all this is the problem. That pesky "real job" gets in the way a lot as I'm sure many of you know all too well.

Later,
