Naaaa..... At least, not IMHO.  I did run the splines at first.
Unless you have a way to cut and machine-together the splines exactly 
the right length- and most of us don't- those long splines looping around
look really bad.    Better to just mount and use the BC-450 
for mode and volume and use the little cranks.

I do have some short splines on some of my sets, but I can't take
credit for them.  Someone much kinder than I deserve and 
whom- out of simple mercy and respect for his limited time- 
I shall not name, made those :-)
As for the big, full 274N set- I'm happy with the little cranks.
