"Nature cannot be fooled" - Richard Feynman.
After some exchanges on his list to resolve a problem where a BC-454 &
T-19 failed to load
an aerial properly, Mike Hanz asked "What was the problem?"
Note Mark's (K3MSB) comment at the end ... (which was)
> Someone on this list did in fact ask me if the PS and radio was grounded together, and they were.
> But the coax shield didn't share that ground.
> This should have been obvious to me, but sometimes I miss the obvious.....
> Mark
Richard Feynman make his now-famous remark about "fooling nature" in
reporting cause of the Challenger disaster.
I guess he meant that natural law will always prevail, and in particular
our imagination or oversight will never overcome natural law.
I like the way you put your experience, Mark, because those few words
crystallize the experience of every member on this list (or at least my
experience).
"It should have been obvious, but sometimes I miss the obvious ...."
Without writing a sermon, sometimes "doing electronics" is a wonderful
way to maintain a little humility.
I'm going to remember this - for the new year. Here, in Australia, it's
already new year.
Maybe this year I'll manage to take a humility pill regularly. *Yuk,
hate the taste of those pills!
Best wishes to every list-member.
Les
