Cmdr Starship Enterprise
Dear Commander,
Quick question. You mention the well known trick of pushing the IF
"rods" in to broaden the IF pass-band.
You specifically mention the BC-453 (the "nav-band" set). I always
understood this works with
the R-23 etc, but your words MIGHT be taken to infer the procedure will
work ONLY with the BC-453.
How should I read your comment? All "low-band" nav sets - R-23, R32A,
BC-946 - or just the BC-453?
As for me, I built a solid state rig using a 3200kHz crystal. This puts
3500kHz on the 300 kHz mark after conversion.
Can't comment on images - I've never heard 'em, but that doesn't mean
they are absent.
3200 kHz crystals can be bought from www dot futurlec.com.
Sometimes delivery from Futurlec can be slow from Thailand, and once I
got another guy's PC cards rather than mine.
Generally I find Futurlec will respond to complaints - I think the main
problem involves language and the specialized expertise necessary
to deal with electronic stuff. Anyway, Jameco may sell 3200 rocks.
73 from Aus
